On April 6th, the St. Thomas More Society of the Triangle held their annual meeting. The event included Mass, two speakers, a discussion of group business and election of officials for the upcoming year.

The STMS was honored to hear speaking addresses by former Supreme Court Justice Barbara Jackson and Msgr. William King. Justice Jackson spoke on the life and work of Justice William Gaston, the first Roman Catholic to sit on the North Carolina Supreme Court.

 

Msgr. King, an expert in cannon law, spoke on the distinct framework of cannon law as opposed to civil and criminal law in the United States, with a particular emphasis on the role of cannon law in light of instances of clerical abuse.
